Most platforms display profile pictures inside a circle, even when the upload box accepts a square or rectangle. If you upload the original image, the app decides what to keep. RoundCut lets you set the crop first, so faces, logos, and important edges stay inside the final circle.
The file is decoded and cropped locally in your browser. There's no image upload step, no account, and no stored copy on a RoundCut server. When you close the tab, the working image is discarded from memory.

For LinkedIn, company directories, resumes, team pages, and brand avatars, the crop matters as much as the shape. Center the subject, leave a little breathing room, and keep faces or logo marks away from the edge of the circle.
Discord recommends 512 × 512 minimum and displays avatars at 128 × 128. LinkedIn requires 400 × 400 minimum. Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accept up to 1080 × 1080. A 1024 × 1024 export is a strong all-purpose default — it gives Discord, LinkedIn, Instagram, Slack, TikTok, WhatsApp, and similar apps enough detail to resize or compress cleanly on high-density screens.

Yes. Open Advanced options on the download screen and switch Background to Color, then pick any hex value from the native color picker. Transparent is the default for PNG, WebP, and AVIF. JPEG always uses a solid color because the format doesn't support transparency.
The quality slider applies to WebP, AVIF, and JPEG exports. Higher values keep more detail and create larger files. PNG ignores the slider because it's lossless.
Not yet. For now, export a transparent PNG with your chosen background and add the border in any design editor. Border rings are tracked as a future addition.
